All these years, I was trying to do everything. I wanted to be an engineer, a chess player, a writer, a content creator, a video editor, and many other things. Even in my studies, I wanted to do everything. What’s the result? Nothing. Just because I am trying to do everything, I can’t do anything. Now I think the way to advance is to lose out on something, or I would say, most things. Let’s focus on what really matters and what’s needed. I feel stuck in the middle of a sea, and the only way out is to ride a boat, but the mind should be clear on the choice of boat. I can’t be on two or more boats at the same time. I have to decide and stick to it.

Let’s be clear about many things: Do I want to learn Java or JavaScript? Do I want to do DSA or not? It’s not a decision about good or bad; it’s about deciding what to move forward with. Constantly switching decisions is just like making no decision at all.

While I am writing this post, I am making many decisions and eliminating various options. I am not saying that I have to do only one thing for the rest of my life, and once the decision is made, there’s nothing else in this world. No. If I work on something and find out it’s not for me, or if there’s something better I should be doing, then I will adjust accordingly. But always being in confusion makes no sense. Sometimes confusion is okay; in fact, it can be good for better decision-making, but not always.

When I say we have to lose, it’s not just about the options we have and the choices we make but also about the habits and needs we possess. It can also pertain to a person or any relationship that is not only unnecessary but also a barrier. It’s not as rude as it sounds. When I say unnecessary relationships should be avoided, I don’t mean to be an extremely selfish or rude person who only talks when he needs something. It’s about identifying the elements that are hampering our lives and eliminating them.

All these words can be summarized in one famous line by SRK: “Sometimes we have to lose something in order to win.”

That’s it for today. Take care.
